Interrupting Retaliations
Interrupting group or retaliatory violence requires Interrupters working directly with those most likely to organise and lead the killings. Interruption programs around the world have achieved greater than 50% reduction in violent death.
While some triggers will often result in large-scale retaliatory violence, ShieldPNG is gathering information on what works in trigger situations which can be interrupted when the right people are identified, trained, connected, and supported.
This will be done working with local churches, authorities, and peace NGOs in hotspot locations. ShieldPNG also gathers resources and support for those peace organisations.
Growing Peace Campaigns
ShieldPNG collects violence prevention campaign information and content from around the world. We also collect information on a wide-range of public campaigns from the PNG Highlands. The digital ShieldPNG resource library will be continuously improved.
We are developing tools to grow the impact for those running peace campaigns. This includes tools to produce videos, animations, presentations, posters, and other content tailored for target communities.
information sharing and available tools and seek to help fill the gaps. These tools should be ready for public use starting in late 2025.
